Hundreds of years ago, cities were settled at river banks, which guaranteed huge development possibilities. Nowadays, the access to inland waterways may as well be a great asset of cities and other investment areas located at river banks.

A skillful management of a river and its role in urban areas may be not only used as a tourist attraction, but also can reduce traffic jams and help tackle air pollution.

Inland shipping is an inexpensive and ecological means of transport, particularly effective and useful for bulk materials, such as ores, coal or aggregates.

An average annual cost of neglect and losses deriving from disastrous floods that happen in Poland approximately once in every 10 years, is estimated for 6,5 billion PLN (1,5 billion EUR) annually. At WaterWays EXPO presented are i. a. solutions and technologies for flood control and flood protection.

WaterWays EXPO 2018

We have a pleasure to inform you that the 4th WATERWAYS EXPO International Exhibition and Conference on Water Management and Inland Shipping will be held 21-22 June, 2017. The event is being organized biennially in strict consultation with government administration engaged in the management of water resources in Poland and responsible for the development of inland shipping (i. a. Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation), as well as with the agreement and under honorary patronage of local governments, for which the effective use of inland waters is one of the most significant factors of development.

Investing in inland water infrastructure, planned by Polish government administration, is an issue that within the next few years will affect Poland, its regional development, the standard of living, flood and drought safety, as well as energy security. This is a huge challenge for Poland, which at present is largely a blank spot on the map of Europe’s inland waterways. It is also a great opportunity for many businesses and organizations, since they can take part in planned infrastructure projects or develop various kinds of business activities based on newly built infrastructure and new development possibilities.

WaterWays EXPO is Poland’s only trade and conference event comprehensively covering all aspects of investment projects related with inland waters – i. a. the development of regions and riparian towns, hydrotechnical engineering, prevention from the consequences of floods and droughts, production of “pure” electric energy, the development of inland shipping and tourism.
